KAPIT: Over fifty heads of departments and elected representatives throughout Kapit Division attended a two-day lab programme “Kapit Divisional Strategic Transformation Plan 2020 to 2025” held at Klagan Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on June 20 to 21.

According to Kapit Deputy Resident (Development) Galong Luang, the strategic transformation plan was an important roadmap to accelerate development in the division by 2030.

He pointed out that the period from 2020 to 2025 was also very significant as it coincides with the Twelve Malaysia Plan and a reminder of ten more years towards realising Sarawak’s vision of a developed state
by 2030.

“The role of government agencies in supporting policies and programmes in developing Kapit has become more effective by integrating ideas and resources more efficiently through this well-thought strategic initiatives outlined in the blueprint. The blueprint brings the Sarawak government closer to the people. This important document endorses the commitment of government agencies in supporting Sarawak Government Transformation Plan and Digital Economic Plan,” explained Galong.

He said the implementation of the Kapit Division Strategic Transformation Plan will be monitored by the Resident Office which will coordinate and evaluate the performances through a Divisional Scoreboard based on the key performance indicators outlined in the
plan.

“The crafting of this strategic plan involved participation and contributions from all government agencies in
Kapit. I wish to record my appreciation and thanks to all heads of departments and agencies in
Kapit Division for their contributions and commitment in the formulation of the plan. It is my sincere hope that the spirit of advancing the wellbeing
of the people will live on
until 2020 and beyond,” said Galong.

Among the activities at the two-day lab included group deliberation on current issues and challenges, strength weakness, opportunity and treats, social economic, political, technology, legal and environment analysis.

The focus was on infrastructure development, economic development, social and community development.

Leading the heads of departments was Kapit Division Resident Joseph Belayong while the elected representatives were led by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing and adviser to the Chief Minister’s Office Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

The participants included Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Belaga assemblyman Datuk Liwan Lagang, Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan (Katibas), Kennedy Chukpai Ugon (Murum), Wilson
Nyabong Ijang (Pelagus) and Jefferson Jamit Unyat (Bukit Goram).
