KUCHING: Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) will be organising a series of roadshows from April to June to promote home ownership.

The roadshow will start off at Vivacity Megamall here on April 5-7 followed by Wisma Sanyan in Sibu on April 12-14, and Bintulu and Miri on dates to be announced later.

The first Home and Property Roadshow at Vivacity, organised by Sheda Kuching branch, will feature 36 booths showcasing properties, current and new projects.

Potential home buyers can also expect special discounts and rebates during the three-day roadshow under the Home Ownership Campaign 2019 (HOC 2019).

They also stand to win cash vouchers sponsored by Nippon Paint and attractive prizes in the Buy and Win Lucky Draw.

Major exhibitors include NAIM Berhad, Maybank Berhad, Inland Revenue Board and Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia and other SHEDA members.

The roadshows will offer opportunities for both developers and the public to seek and identify different options available from a wide selection gathered under one roof.

“Owning a home is a basic necessity and for most of us, owning a property constitutes the largest single investment in one’s lifetime.  Most tend to approach with a mix of excitement and caution.

“At the SHEDA roadshows, all those questions can be answered and potential buyers will able to capitalise on the HOC incentives and be one step closer to securing that dream home,” Sheda said today.

In line with HOC 2019, the federal government has introduced several initiatives and incentives through Budget 2019 to facilitate Malaysians to own homes, especially for the B40 and M40 groups to benefit both purchasers and developers.

Sheda said the exemption of stamp duty would be granted to: any Sale and Purchase agreement for the purchase of the residential property executed on or after Jan 1, 2019 but not later than June 30, 2019; the Sale and Purchase agreement for the purchase of the residential property between the individual and a property developer; and the individual has never owned any residential property including a residential property which is obtained by way of inheritance or gift, which is held either individually or jointly.
