IPOH: “Go to the mosque, get closer to God, be a good person and stop taking drugs,” Sessions Court judge Azman Abu Hassan told a palm oil fruit collector.

He gave the advice to Khairul Amri Ulul Azmi, 33, who is an amputee, when sentencing him to three years jail after Khairul Amri pleaded guilty to breaking into a house and stealing last month.

Azman ordered Khairul Amri, who lost his right leg in a motorcycle accident, to start serving the sentence from the date of arrest on April 2.

“We pity you but we have to take into account the interest of the public. I hope during these three years you can improve yourself and come out as a better person,” Azman said in his judgment.

Khairul Amri pleaded guilty to breaking into a house of one Zahirah Othman, 56, in Kampung Telok Manis Layang-Layang Kiri, Parit, between midnight and 3 am on March 24 and stealing RM520 cash, a Casio wrist watch, three gold necklaces, three gold rings and a mobile phone valued at about RM10,000.
