KUCHING: A robber was arrested here, thanks to quick action by the police.

However, two of his accomplices managed to escape and the cops are hot on their heels.

The trio robbed a 24-hour cold storage in Gambier Street early Sunday morning.

Police surrounded his hotel room in India Street yesterday morning but the robber decided to surrender instead of bolting.

On Sunday, the suspect with his accomplices went to the cold storage and one of the trio demanded for money while wielding a parang.

The terrified workers handed over an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

Police arrived at the scene later and following a review of the CCTV footage, they went to the lodging house in India Street.

The suspect, in his 30s, from Kampung Astana, Petra Jaya near here is also being investigated for any connection to several other cases.

Within this week alone, there have been a number of snatch theft and robbery cases.

Most of the cases were committed by criminals who are drug users.
