Rodiyah appeals for voters’ strong support

SIMUNJAN: Continuing the development agenda that is currently ongoing and has been planned before is one of the main focuses of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

GPS candidate for Batang Sadong, Rodiyah Sapiee said, many development projects have been and are being implemented here in the constituency by former Batang Sadong MP, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

“Because of that, strong support from voters in Batang Sadong is needed to ensure the development can be continued and that it will benefit the constituents and people in general.

“In addition, various activities are also planned for the youth in this area,” she said when met by the media after the announcement of the candidates contesting for Batang Sadong in the 15th general election (GE15) at Dewan Mesra Sri Simunjan here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Lahaji Lahiya hopes to bring more changes in in terms of development of infrastructure into the districts under the federal constituency.

The 71-year-old candidate, who is the  Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Sarawak secretary, said, if elected, he wants to upgrade the infrastructure especially in the villages within Batang Sadong

“First of all, many schools have not yet been repaired or upgraded and even some still use wooden materials for building.

“Only a few schools were upgraded using cement and other quality materials,” he said.

In addition, he said Simunjan is the eighth poorest district in Malaysia.

“Because of that, bringing in more development here is important, especially involving road infrastructure that has no street lights at night so that it can be safe for the people, especially road users,” he said.
