KUALA LUMPUR: The retail price for RON97 petrol goes up two sen a litre to RM2.51 from RM2.49 a litre for the period from Aug 24-30.
A Finance Ministry statement yesterday said that the retail price for RON95 petrol and diesel stayed at RM2.08 and RM2.18, respectively, during the same period.
Based on the calculation under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), the retail prices of RON95 and diesel during the period should be RM2.21 a litre and RM2.25 a litre each.
“But, the retail prices for both products are maintain in line with the decision of the government to stabilise the retail prices for the petroleum products and safeguard the well-being of the people’s economy,’’ said the statement. The subsidy which the government must bear on Aug 24-30 would amount to RM55.48 million. – Bernama
