KUCHING: A room located on the third floor of a flat unit in Taman Suria Jaya at Jalan Matang here was destroyed in a fire early yesterday.
According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), 25 personnel in two fire engines and two EMRS vehicles from Petra Jaya and Kuching fire stations were mobilised to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 3.26am.
Upon arrival at the scene at 3.44am, the firefighters took less than 30 minutes to put out the flames.
It was reported that an occupant of the flat unit, Sukardi Ismail escaped unhurt in the incident.
The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained as of press time.
