BINTULU: Residents here are excited about the visit of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah which is seen to be an unforgettable experience in addition to strengthening racial harmony and unity.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah will be here from Sept 10 to 11 as part of the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ tour series from Sept 3 to 13, starting in Tawau, Sabah and ending in Telok Melano, Sarawak, covering the distance of 2,154 kilometres.
The royal couple will arrive at Masjid Darul Falah Kampung Penan Muslim Batu 10, Jalan Bintulu – Miri at about 3 pm to mingle and deliver donations to 100 asnaf (needy individuals) in the village.
The next day (Sept 11), the royal couple’s entourage will spend time visiting the Raymond Plen longhouse at Sungai Gelam, Jalan Ulu Sebauh to greet the local community and participate in some activities that have been arranged.
For Penghulu Raini Piee, he described the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s visit to Kampung Penan Muslim Batu 10 as a historic event that he and the village community will never forget.
This, he said, is because it is the first time they receive a visit from the King since the 53 years of the village’s existence.
“Feeling happy because this village was chosen to receive the visit of the royal couple and excited because this is the first time to be able to meet and see them up close,” he said.
“This is the greatest honour for us people in Kampung Penan Muslim Batu 10 and we very much welcome the arrival of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he said when met by reporters.
Sharing the excitement of receiving the visit of the royal entourage was the chairman of Darul Falah Masjid Penan Muslim Village Batu 10, Abu Amin Rosli.
“Can’t say it with words, I just say Alhamdulillah because we didn’t expect the matter (selection of Kampung Penan Muslim as a stopover).
“I have been here for more than 20 years, suddenly on August 11, I was invited by the Resident and Bintulu District Office to attend a meeting to discuss matters related to the visit of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandaria to Bintulu.
“Alhamdulillah, I am grateful to Allah swt,” he said.
Meanwhile, large posters of the King and Queen can be seen in several other strategic locations in the Bintulu town area.
