MIRI: For the coming double celebration of Gawai-Raya, Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) will focus more on technical aspects of road safety amongst motorists, said its state director Mohd Syafiq Anas Abdullah.
“These technical aspects include thorough checking by motorists on the technical conditions of their vehicles before driving to their respective destinations,” he said.
Mohd Syafiq was met by local media on Sunday evening after distributing 300 packets of ‘Bubur Lambuk’ to motorists passing by the Miri-Bintulu road.
Also present was Miri RTD chief Maya Morshidi.
RTD enforcement officers will also be carrying out “Ops Sisih”, whereby inspections will be conducted on workshops and depots to ensure motorists are using tyres in good condition and other parts of their vehicles fit for safe driving.
“Our enforcement officers will also take bus, taxi rides masquerading as passengers to monitor the drivers under “Ops Penyamaran” (Ops disguised) and these operations will be held spontaneously,” he said.
On the government new ruling of vehicle tinting guidelines, Mohd Syafiq said the local RTD has received at least two applications to have their car windows darkened.
“It will take us about two months to process the application before approval,” he said.
