KUCHING: Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) will introduce a special programme, dubbed ‘Sape Junior’ on May 27 to feature local talents especially in traditional Sarawak music.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the industry is filled with young talents and the introduction of the programme will help to add creativity.
He added that he is optimistic that the programme will be a success especially among the younger generation.
“My ministry is committed to supporting the role and plans of RTM to showcase young creative talents and performances in Sarawak, especially highlighting the identity of the Land of the Hornbills to higher levels.
“These include ‘Juh Bermukun’ held for 76 hours non-stop, ‘Bintang P. Ramlee’, ‘Bintang Kecil’ and the upcoming ‘Sape Junior’ on the 27 of May,” he said when attending the RTM appreciation night held at Waterfront Hotel on Friday (Feb 24).
He also pointed out that with the collaboration from the state government through the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, RTM can advance further the entertainment industry.
“I hope the cooperation from everyone involved can assist this situation, and add colour to the creative industry in Sarawak and Malaysia,” he said.
Abdul Karim also announced an allocation of RM50,000 to the Kelab Rekreasi RTM for broadcasting related activities.
Also present at the event was RTM Sarawak broadcasting department director, Nasrul Hakim Md Noh.
