SARATOK: The allocations under the Sarawak government’s Rural Transformation Project (RTP) have benefited many longhouses in terms of infrastructure upgrades.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said the annual allocation of RTP for his constituency has been distributed to all the villages, longhouses and schools.

“That means, there are no marginalised areas. For Dom Bruea Longhouse in Sungai Antu, it will have a new facelift.

“The residents there expressed excitement after their application to upgrade the longhouse infrastructure was approved through the RTP allocation,” he said.

Mohamad, who was represented by deputy head of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka branch, councilor Kasdi Pandi, added that the project to upgrade the longhouse infrastructure through RTP has been approved by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).

He also emphasised that there were several projects that would be implemented in phases and in stages considering the high cost of construction.

“Nevertheless, we are thankful and grateful to the Sarawak GPS government which is committed to boosting the development of rural areas to ensure that rural communities can equally enjoy high-impact development.
