RTP projects completed and handed over to longhouse folk

BETONG: Three more Rural Transformation Projects (RTPs) for Bukit Saban constituency have been completed and handed over to the respective recipients recently.

The three projects involved the construction of a new drainage for Nanga Tot, Debak longhouse at a cost of RM150,000; construction of a soil erosion barrier (Phase 2) at Nanga Tiga, Layar, Betong longhouse at a cost of RM150,000; and the upgrading of a cemetery at Begumbang, Layar, Betong longhouse costing RM100,000.

As for the RTP project at Nanga Tot, it was implemented through process of drawing lots to select the contractor.

The RTP projects for Nanga Tiga and Begumbang were implemented on a ‘gotong-royong’ basis by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of the respective longhouses.

Meanwhile, the project handover under the supervision of the Betong Division Department of Irrigation and Drainage was witnessed by Betong MP Dr Richard Rapu.

The handover to the representative of the recipients, was officiated by the Divisional Engineer of Betong Division Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Rollin Jenta.

Longhouse chiefs who were present to receive the projects thanked the government for implementing the projects.

They expressed hope that the projects could improve the infrastructure in their area and benefit the community.
