KUCHING: Kota Samarahan incumbent Datuk Rubiah Wang retained her seat with a majority of 29,445 votes in a straight fight against Pakatan Harapan (PH) Abang Halil.
She garnered a total of 42,278 votes while Abang Halil polled 12,833.
“This is a very good indicator to continue our goal to develop Kota Samarahan and at the same time, strengthen the position of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in this state.
“From what we have obtained from the results, the younger generation, especially the youths, tend to lean to GPS and this shows a good mood for us.”
She said this when approached by the media at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tonight (Nov 19).
Rubiah has been defending the seat since 2013.
