KUCHING: All the 31 seats in the coming 15th General Election (GE15) will be filled by the ruling coalition Gabung Parti Sarawak (GPS), Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg affirmed.
He said this when asked by reporters if GPS would work together with Bersatu, its friendly peninsula-based party in the next election.
“I already said we will fill all the 31 seats,” he stressed when met by reporters at the N.26 Gedong Aidilfitri gathering at Raia Hotel here, on Thursday.
Currently, there are two parliamentary seats in Sarawak held by Bersatu members, namely Puncak Borneo (Datuk Willie Mongin) and Saratok (Datuk Ali Biju).
Recently, when met during an event at Puncak Borneo, the Puncak Borneo MP said he would be defending his seat in GE15.
He stated that as the incumbent for the seat, it is normal for the incumbent to defend and contest in the coming election.
“Therefore, as incumbent, if I am not defending my seat, it is not a right thing to do.
“But I do not want to comment more on this; it will be decided at the right time. We will cross the bridge,” Willie said.
