TANJUNG MANIS: The project to upgrade the embankment and drainage along Rumah Dadat Punju in Jalan Tanjung Manis-Sibu will greatly benefit the residents of all 25 doors.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Tuesday (Feb 8), the project would also solve the issue of salt water entering into the residential area and agricultural land of the residents.
Tanjung Manis MP Ir Yusuf Abdul Wahab witnessed the symbolic handover of the project by Mukah Division Drainage and Irrigation Department engineer representative Anuar Mahasir to the contractor, Syarikat Perusahaan Samsawi Bersaudara, on Monday (Feb 7).
The Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) under Yusuf, worth RM300,000 and stretching 700m, will commence this month and it is scheduled to be completed by July next year.
The entire project involves the expansion of drains, upgrading of embankment, expansion of parking space, and repair of the damaged jetty.
Yusuf urged the residents to cooperate with the contractor throughout the project so that it can be completed according to schedule, as the project is already late due to the enforcement of the movement control order.
In addition, he also called upon residents to continue complying with the standard operating procedures, especially since there has been a rise in Covid-19 cases recently.
