“The shrimp industry presents significant opportunities, but it demands robust biosecurity measures. I understand there’s also a plan for agrotourism here, and we must ensure proper procedures are in place.

“From the government’s perspective, we can assist you in achieving the goal of becoming a net exporter by 2030.”

“We stand ready to assist, providing incentives and support as needed. As in agriculture, fundamental infrastructure is essential,” he said.

Earlier, Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, who is also the chairman of the Sarawak State Farmers Association (PPNS), and Rambungan Aqua Life Sdn Bhd expressed plans to establish a restaurant, a Peladang eShop, a children’s playground, and a two-hectare pond for Siakap fish farming for sport fishing in the area.

He highlighted the project’s need for basic infrastructure, estimating a maximum cost of RM10 million for these components.

“What we need from the government for this project are two components: road upgrades and Sesco substations. We estimate the cost of these components to be a maximum of RM10 million.

“We have applied for RM26 million for this project. We hope this project will help the government’s aim to be a net exporter of food products by 2030,” he said.

Rambungan Aqua Life Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between PPNS and Sea Horse Corporation Sdn Bhd, reached a significant milestone with the development of a 12-hectare pond, the largest of its kind in Malaysia.
