BINTANGOR: Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the state government pays close attention to the needs of rural areas.
He said with the approval of every project under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), Minor Rural Project (MRP), Sarawak House Repair for the Poor Project (PPRMS) and special grants reflects its commitment.
“The approval of these projects demonstrates the leadership’s commitment, led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, in ensuring the betterment and progress of the state’s development,” he said during a visit to longhouses in the Meradong constituency on Thursday.
Ding who is chairman of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bintangor branch, also emphasised the importance of making grassroots visits.
“Such visits are important so that we can understand the issues faced by longhouse residents and also to receive requests or feedback from village chiefs and residents,” he added.
Meanwhile, he also informed the longhouse residents that a special team from the Sarawak Premier’s Department will organise a programme to assist children without identification documents or those experiencing issues with their Malaysian citizenship status.
“The programme will be held from June 10 to June 14 at the Meradong District Office here,” he said.
