BALINGIAN: Rural areas are not left behind to ensure that government services can be delivered to the local community successfully.

Balingian assemblyman  Abdul Yakub Arbi said the efforts of the Sarawak Department of Labour (JTK) in identifying the location of the interior areas should be appreciated.

“With the Labour Go Rural Area 5.0 Programme, rural communities can get advice from government agencies involved.

“Initiatives like this also make it easier for the department to bring services directly to the public without having to travel to the city,” he said.

He said this in his text of the speech read by the political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Fridah Osman when he officiated at the Labour Go Rural Area 5.0 Programme Year 2024, at the Balingian Community Hall, here, yesterday.

Commenting further, he said, JTK Sarawak also understands and takes note of the problems faced by residents in rural and interior areas.

He said this is mainly to get advice from government agencies and if they go to the department concerned, many things such as transportation and so on are taken into account.

As such, the organisation of this programme not only brings services directly to the community, but also increases the awareness and knowledge of the public.

“This is mainly related to rights as workers, job opportunities and opportunities to enhance technical skills to the youth and those in need.

“Don’t hesitate to come and meet to get advice on labour laws, whether employers or employees so that we are always on the right track.

“I believe that the departments and agencies involved in this programme will cooperate fully to facilitate the affairs of those in need,” he explained.

Also present were Sarawak Manpower director Awang Raduan Awang Omar and Mukah acting District Officer Peleadzman Ahip.
