BAU: Several Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) in Tasik Biru are struggling to meet their deadlines because of procedural requirements and labour shortages.

Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said several RTP projects in his area are progressing slowly, while some are moving quickly.

“This is compounded by the planning of various new projects, leading to some projects being suspended.

“It depends on the implementing agencies on how quickly they can produce project quotations, designs, and so on; typically, it’s quite slow,” he told the media at the Gawai Dayak closing ceremony at the Jagoi Serasot Multipurpose Hall, here on Sunday (June 30).

Additionally, he noted that there is a shortage of labour, especially in technical fields, and even when there are workers they lack experience.

Henry, who is the assemblyman for Tasik Biru, said some projects are taking time to complete but need to be finished within the set timeframe.

Meanwhile, he added that a total allocation of RM1.05 million from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) has been allocated to churches in Tasik Biru for renovation works.

He said around RM400,000 has been allocated to St. Leo Church, Kampung Serasot, RM150,000 for St. Agnes Tsaou Church, and RM500,000 for St. Lucas Church, Kampung Duyoh.

He said this funding allocation was the first batch disbursed for this year.
