KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth Central Committee wishes to highlight on the recent article in the internet entitled *“James Masing Salah: 5 Sebab Sarawak Harus Sokong RUU355”* by author, Sanib Said.

The press statement yesterday stated: “We wish to reaffirm that we strongly stand behind our President, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Masing pertaining to the recent article made by Sanib Said.

“The statement made by Sanib Said was deemed to be shallow and did not project any concretive facts and figures for argument purposes.

The article was deemed to be very infantile and lack of intellectuality, as he failed to put up his argument as scholar based on constitutional perspective.

“The decision made by PRS pertaining to their MPs not supporting the RUU355 was based on a collective and consensus decision made during the last party`s Supreme Council Meeting, and it was not a decision made solely by the Party President.

“In terms of the numbers game in the Parliament, we wish to correct the statement made by Sanib on the repercussion if PRS does not support the RUU355 which was initiated by PAS, it would meant that PAS in the future will not support PRS`s fight on Sarawak autonomy.

“ We want to reiterate here that PBB, SUPP, SPDP and even the State DAP or PKR are also fighting for Sarawak`s autonomy and not PRS alone. In the context of not supporting the RUU355, we believe that Sabah state-based parties, MCA, MIC and even Gerakan would also not support the RUU355.

“ The Chief Minister of Sarawak in his recent statement (Borneo Post, 17th Feb.2017) had made it clear that Sarawak Barisan Nasional will oppose the implementation of Hudud Law. His statement made a concretive indication that he is not a person who will agree on anything that will jeopardise the unity of Sarawakians.

“Tan Sri Masing is a person who is neither against Muslims or Malays in this country, but he is generally voicing out his concern based on the merits of practicality. He preaches on the principle of upholding the needs of harmonious co-existence amongst the multi-racial citizens of this country. The introduction of RUU355 will further create confusion as there will be two sets of Laws in our legal system concerning our citizens of different religious background.

We wish to make a stand that we subscribe to the principle of harmonious co-existence and we oppose any attempts of extremism, religious bigotry and baseless acquisition that will treat the unity nof this beloved nation.

Nevertheless, we hope that the author shall make detailed study and analysis on any future articles as any baseless articles will be subjected to scrutiny and reflects immaturity of character.
