KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Information Department (JaPen) has distributed about 20,000 pamphlets across the state through its ‘Info on Wheels’ programme to disseminate information pertaining to the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) to the public.
Sabah JaPen director Norzawiyah Bulka said accurate and up-to-date information on the coronavirus had to be disseminated so that people would not panic or fear when receiving false information about the virus.
“Currently many false rumours are being circulated about the virus which has caused public fear. Therefore, Sabah JaPen will provide the accurate information. Preventive measures are very important, by maintaining hygiene at all times,” she told reporters after conducting the programme, here yesterday.
She said the coronavirus-related pamphlets were distributed in a number of areas including night markets, pasar tamu (weekly markets), business premises and residential areas.
Apart from that, the department also distributed brochures with information on various government initiatives such as e-Cash to the public.
“We are also providing information on the fifth-generation (5G) network technology, although it has yet to reach Sabah but at least members of the public are aware of what 5G is,” she said. – Bernama
