KUCHING: It’s second time lucky for Fateeha Nasleen Suhailin when she won the national-level RTM Bintang Kecil here last night (Sept 3).
The 12-year old from Keningau, better known by her stage name as Kiki, sang a Nikki Palikat original, ‘Sudah’, winning the hearts of the judges and the audience.
She dedicated her victory to her fans and the strong support from family members, friends and school teachers.
“I am truly happy and grateful to be able to win the competition. I did not expect to be named as the winner.
“I dedicate this victory to my fans, and I would like to thank my family members, friends and teachers for their continuous support and prayers,” said Kiki when met by reporters at Arena Gemilang, DeTAR Putra, UNIMAS last night.
Kiki, who started singing at the age of five, expressed her desire of becoming a singer one day and credited her sisters for providing her with vocal lessons.
As the champion, Kiki walked away with a cash prize of RM20,000, a trophy and an appreciation certificate, while second placed Nurfarina Farha Abdul Zahir, also known as Farha, from Selangor walked home with RM15,000, a trophy and an appreciation certificate.
Third was Wa’ie Mohd Zain from Johor who walked away with a cash prize of RM10,000, a trophy and an appreciation certificate.
Another participant from Sabah, Mohamad Alif Ikmal Danial Azawan Jamaludin, was chosen as the ‘Bintang Pilihan Protege’. He won an electronic portable keyboard worth RM1,300.
He was among five participants who received the consolation prize. Each of them walked away with RM5,000.
Witnessing the prize giving ceremony was Minister of Utilities and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi, who represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Among those present were Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Broadcasting director-general Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman and Sarawak Broadcasting director Wan Azhan Wan Hamat.
