CHIEF Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has never issued a statement that Sabahans would be allowed to enter Sarawak freely.
Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Assistant Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said this when responding to Sew Chee How (PKR-Batu Lintang) who asked about the state government’s policy on entries of Sabahans into Sarawak.
He said any proposal on the entry of Sabahans into Sarawak would not be implemented without a careful study.
“This must take into account the various factors such as social and geopolitical factors, including refugee and illegal immigrant issues in Sabah before the matter can be considered,” he said
He stressed that Sabahans still use passports, travelling documents or identification card to enter Sarawak.
“Immigration checks for entry into Sarawak are still in effect,” he said.
