SIBU: The secondary school years often mark a pivotal period where friendships evolve into extended family bonds, and reunions become essential for cherishing memories and reliving joyous moments.
From Nov 24 to 26, the Sacred Heart Secondary School Class of 1973 witnessed a heartwarming reunion, bringing together 17 out of 30 former students from across the globe.
Jane Ling, a former student from the Class of 1973, expressed her excitement and gratitude for this reunion.
“I’m very grateful to God that our classmates are able to meet again after 50 years,” she exclaimed.
Throughout the reunion, old friends created memorable and meaningful moments by relishing exotic Fuzhou food and reminiscing about the past.
The highlight of the event was the visit to their alma mater, Sacred Heart Secondary School, where they were welcomed by a lion dance and a Scottish bagpipe band parade organised by the school’s current students.
The visit also included a tour around the school guided by the teachers and the current principal, David Teo, who is also an ex-Sacred Heart student.
As a gesture of support, the Class of 1973 made a cash donation to contribute to the school’s ongoing development.
Expressing his gratitude, Teo thanked the Class of 1973 and other former students for their continuous financial and moral support.
Meanwhile, Ling expressed her hopes for another reunion in the near future. “I’m hoping we shall meet again at the next reunion, maybe next year?”
