KUCHING: Native Customary Rights (NCR) Land Development Assistant Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn yesterday night presented a total of RM165,000 in minor rural project (MRP) grants to five villages, three churches and a parent-teacher association (PTA).
Sagah, who is Tarat assemblyman, made the presentation of the grants during ‘Majlis Meruh Kasah Gawai 2019’ (closing of Gawai) at Kampung Tabuan Rabak multipurpose hall.
The recipients are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sitang Petag (RM5,000), JKKK Kampung Tabuan Rabak (RM10,000), SDA Adventist Mission of Sarawak (RM10,000), JKKK Kampung Menjau (RM20,000), JKKK Kampung Pulau Kandis (RM20,000), Gereja Katolik St Dominic Kuang (RM20,000), JKKK Kampung Menjau (RM20,000), JKKK Kampung Tabuan Rabak (RM30,000) and SDA Church Kampung Kandis (RM30,000).
At the same function Sagah also presented incentives to excellent students from Kampung Tabuan Rabak.
In his speech Sagah called for unity of Sarawakians behind Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government in its effort to reclaim the state’s constitutional rights and entitlements.
He said their unity is a must so that their request for restoration of the state rights is heard by the federal government.
Sagah also reminded the people in the constituency to continue supporting the state government so that they would not be left behind in terms of development.
He said the GPS government is serious in its efforts to bring more development to the rural people under its rural transformation programme (RTP) and minor rural project (MRP).
“It would be a great loss for Tarat constituency and its people if they support the opposition in the next state election,” he said.
Also present at the function were community leaders and village chiefs.
