Sagah hands out grants for Opar activities

BAU: The Sarawak government has channelled grants totalling about RM1.995 million to implement various activities in the Opar constituency this year.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the funds were presented by Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Roland Sagah at Kampung Stenggang town hall here, recently.

Among the recipients were the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Tembawang Baru, JKKK Kampung Sepadah, JKKK Kampung Stenggang, JKKK Kampung Pidilam, JKKK Kampung Tembawang Sauh, JKKK Kampung Jugan, JKKK Kampung Stum Muda, JKKK Kampung Rumih, JKKK  Kampung Opar, JKKK Kampung Bitokan 2, JKKK Kampung Selampit 2 and JKKK Kampung Bitokan.

The other recipients were the Women’s Bureau of Kampung Bitokan 2, the Kebang Middle School Alumni Association and the Kampung Selampit Sports and Recreation Club.

Sagah said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg always strives to increase the state’s income through investment and also from the collection of oil and gas sales tax.

“The revenue has been channelled to the people of Sarawak through infrastructure development and social development.

“The Sarawak government is also in the process of regaining the autonomy of education and we hope that it can be restored so that allocations can be channelled to poor schools for the development of the education of Sarawak’s children,” he said.

Also present in the programme were Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, three  political secretaries to Premier, John Nyigor, Niponi Undek and Damien Rijek and Acting Bau District Officer Eddy Nayoi.
