KUCHING: The Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) delegation led by its minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn made a visit to the National Science Centre of Northern Region in Alor Star, Kedah on Wednesday (Sept 14).
The visit was aimed to understand in more detail about the operation of the Science Centre to be used as a benchmark in the management and operation of the Sarawak Science Centre which is under construction and expected to be completed in 2025.
It is also to understand in detail the STEM (Science, Techonlogy, Engineering and Mathematics) activities and programmes organised by the centre in encouraging students and community to love and appreciate science and technology.
Upon arrival Sagah accompanied by his two deputy ministers, Datuk Francis Harden and Dr Annuar Rapaee, were welcomed by deputy secretary general (Planning and Science Enculturation) of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Dr Nagulendran A/L Kangayatkarasu.
They were briefed on the centre’s background, its operations, and facilities by the director of the National Science Centre Mismah Jimbun.
Later they were given an interactive tour of the centre’s facilities as well as exhibits and the delegation also had a hands-on experience with the interactive exhibits at the centre.
Also present were Ministry of Education and Innovation and Talent Development permanent secretary Datu Kameri Affandi, secretary division STI Cultivation and Services Division of MOSTI Nik Kamaruzaman, head of Northern Region Science Centre Hafizul Hanif Abu Bakar and senior officers of the centre.
