SERIAN: The Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra) will expedite surveying of lands in its scheme areas for the purpose of issuing titles to owners.
Its chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said it had recently formed its own survey teams for the purpose.
He said this before presenting land titles to 506 land owners for the Serian region development areas at Kedup multipurpose hall here on Friday.
Uggah said the Land and Survey Department would help to train the surveyors beginning this October.
The state government has provided RM5 million for the operations under the 11th Malaysia Plan. Salcra would bid for more fund under the next development plan, he added.
“With this new approach, we are confident we can issue more land titles in the coming years.
“All these while, the Land and Survey Department has been carrying out the task,” he said.
Uggah said to date, the department had helped to survey 20,059 lots out of 26,923 lots.
“We have a total of 47,958 hectares of which 37,580 hectares had been surveyed for the issuance of land titles.
“We have so far issued titles to 12, 988 landowners involving an area of 31,495 hectares.
“Another 16,463 hectares have yet to be issued the titles.”
Uggah said Salcra had also been given the undertaking to survey all new development areas.
“It will issue the land titles within three years of their development.
“This will be the KPI (Key Performance Indicator) for Salcra under its general manager Joseph Blandoi,” he said.
