BETONG: The Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra) will improve its palm oil production by collaborating with Sime Darby.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas revealed that the collaboration would improve the state’s palm oil industry standards in terms of operational efficiency and productivity through the best agronomic practices.
“I know that Salcra is having some problems. I hope Sime Darby can help us resolve them and suggest the best remedies for the benefit of all participating landowners,” he said in his speech at the launch of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) roadshow for the Anyut Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) sub-branch of Bukit Saban at Rumah Entrie Tabakang in Lempaong Anyut here yesterday.
Uggah, who is also Salcra chairman said a Sime Darby team would explore the palm production problems.
“They will help investigate why Salcra failed to produce the desired output. Solving this would help to improve productivity for a higher return and dividend and bonus for the participating landowners,” he said.
At the function, Uggah was accompanied by Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat and a political secretary to the chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu.
