MIRI: A sales executive of a private firm here, in his twenties, fell victim to a fake investment scheme and lost RM83,000.

According to Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, police received a report on the incident yesterday.

“The incident happened after the victim befriended a female friend via social media – ‘tantan’, who lured him to participate in an investment scheme known as PUC Finance, with lucrative profits,” he said.

He said the victim had transferred money to six different bank accounts between Oct 5 and 14 this year.

“For the first three investments, the victim had received his profits but not from the fourth until the eighth time,” Alexson disclosed.

The victim only realised he was cheated after not receiving any profits.
