KUCHING: A salesman landed himself in hot water after he was caught smoking in an airplane’s toilet mid-flight last Tuesday.
The 33-year-old from Selangor was flying to Kuching from Kuala Lumpur when he lit a cigarette in the toilet and triggered a smoke alarm about 30 minutes before landing at Kuching International Airport.
A cabin crew immediately went to the toilet to check on the man and found him smoking.
Upon questioning, the man explained that he was afraid of flying and had to smoke a cigarette in order to ease his tension.
The man was escorted off the plane by airport authorities and detained for further questioning after the airplane landed at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) around 1.30pm.
Airport police who detained him were alerted before the plane landed at KIA.
