LIMBANG: A saltwater crocodile, measuring some 15 feet, was captured behind a primary school here on Tuesday (Nov 10).

The massive reptile was handed over to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation for further action.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a call around 10.59pm regarding the giant reptile.

A team of firefighters was immediately dispatched to the location – SK St Edmund.

The massive specimen, estimated to weigh around 800kg, was inside a drain behind the school.

Firefighters said the reptile was still alive despite suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

“Team members covered the eyes of the reptile with a piece of cloth to calm it down. They then tied its legs and mouth.

“After securing the reptile, it was handed over to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation for further action,” a statement from Bomba said.
