MUKAH: A miniature racing boat called Rajawali Putera Bumi was adjudged as the Sri Jebungan King of the Circuit of the just concluded Salui Lukut Racing over the weekend.
The boat belonging to Steven Shamsuddin Samti outraced other boats in the Champions of Champions category of the championship.
With the win, Steven walked away with RM400, a plaque and a hamper from the race organised by Kampung Jebungan Saberkas at the jetty of the village on Sunday.
The first and second runners-up respectively were a boat named Angau Utih from Kampung Jebungan and Sayang Sarawak 2 from Kampung Tellian.
Fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the Open and ultimate category were Anjang Star from Kpg Tellian, Kui-Kui of Kpg Jebungan and Casino of Kpg Jebungan.
Meanwhile, in the Inter-village event participated by 9 Salui Lukut, first was Casino of Kpg Jebungan, second Naga Ayam 2 of Kpg Tellian Tengah and third Lanun Sky 69 of Kpg Tutus Ulu.
In the Promising Final category, Mukun 2 from Kpg Tellian captured the first place. Second and third respectively were Raja Lanun 6 of Kpg Litong and Legenda Apui Lat of Kpg Jebungan.
Penghulu Kudum Dillah of Kampung Jebungan presented the prizes to the winners, witnessed by other local community leaders from the area, namely, KK Haji Jaman Lin, KK Aduka Rais and Cr Akim Mahsen.
According to the organising chairman, Mohamad Izzudin Abdullah, the race had received an overwhelming response from the Salui Lukut enthusiasts from the district and beyond.
“A total of 192 miniature boats participated in the championship which was staged at a 129-metre racing circuit specially created for the event near the jetty of Kpg Jebungan located on the bank of Mukah River. Even a village from Dalat District, Kpg Teh also sent the boats to this four-day race, “ he disclosed.
