KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Salvation Army Community Complex will provide for ample space for children to play and grow besides enabling the holding of more community programmes.
Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-being Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the new complex which occupies 7.5 acres with a 60-year lease will house the organisation’s residential care home for children and youth.
She said the complex with new facilities will allow the Salvation Army to care for more children.
“I believe when you have this complex you could do even more and this is a momentous occasion for me and for everybody, you can see that everyone is smiling at this new building.”
She added that the new site in Kota Samarahan replaces the organisation’s two former homes at Jalan Uplands and Jalan Ban Hock.
Fatimah represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari to officiate the new Salvation Army Community Complex on Saturday (Sept 23).
In a related development Fatimah called on the Salvation Army to continue inculcating good values among children which contributes significantly to the well-being of the community.
“That is very important and I see this today, even before I entered this building, the kind of values the Salvation Army has inculcated into our children.
“That is the kind of values we want from the parents, and the NGOs to inculcate in our children and it doesn’t matter what race you are and religion you profess,” she said.
