KUCHING: Staff in the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) are no idle bystanders as they are actively engaged in delivering the best services to the people.
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok said their cohesiveness as a team was the reason why MPKS is said to be the most pro-business and most pro-people.
Sim made these observations when he officiated the MPKS Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Programme 2022 at RH Park Commercial Centre on Saturday (Oct 15) on behalf of MPKS Chairman Datuk Peter Minos.
“Thank you to the MPKS members who work tirelessly to realise its objective of reaching out to people and understanding the pulse of the community in the area managed by our council.
“When we comprehend the needs of the citizens by making policies at the council level to support the people and traders under our auspices, the outcome is a municipal council that the people love and need.
“A close relationship between the people and our council will facilitate all of our future efforts because the people are convinced that MPKS will always make decisions based on facts and will always try to be partners with our residents,” he explained.
On another note he said the locality which is next to the Serian-Kuching road drew a high number of visitors which in turn often resulted in a high volume of garbage in the area.
“MPKS needs to find a way to help but this effort should be assisted by traders and visitors to reduce the waste disposal rate by taking measures that save the environment.
“This can be done by using recycled products as much as possible which can simultaneously reduce the waste disposal rate and at the same time help our environment,” he noted.
Among the events during the programme were communal cleaning of the area, rabies shots for pets such as dogs and cats, and also collection of recyclable goods
