KUCHING: The district of Samarahan has been declared a Covid-19 red zone while Beluru District reverted back to a green zone on Monday (Mar 22).
In announcing this, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 48 locally transmitted cases were recorded in Samarahan District within the past 14 days which resulted in the declaration of the district as a red zone.
“This increases the number of red zone districts in the state to 13 in total,” said SDMC.
The committee said this in a statement on its daily Covid-19 update on Monday.
It said Beluru, which was previously a yellow zone, has recorded no locally transmitted cases in the past two weeks.
“This brings the number of districts with green zone status to 10 districts throughout the state,” it added.
SDMC also noted that there is currently one remaining district with orange zone status, namely Sarikei District.
“Meanwhile, there are also 16 other districts in the state which remain as yellow zones,” said the committee.
