KOTA SAMARAHAN: Locals here have expressed their gratitude and elation for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project.
According to them, the project is expected to be able to reduce road congestion once it materialises and hence they are looking forward to using the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) service.
Yesterday (Dec 16), phase one of the KUTS project was officially launched, marking the start of works for the ART depot in Kota Samarahan.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was present to officiate at the launch of the said project that was held at the proposed site for Sarawak Metro’s ART depot or to be known as Rembus Depot for the Blue Line – one of the three lines to be constructed under phase one of the KUTS project.

I feel grateful and proud because the construction of this ART will provide socio-economic improvement for the populace, especially in the Samarahan area. With the existence of this ART, we will be able to reduce road congestion with systematic transport services, in addition, to take care of the environment.

This project can benefit the residents, especially the children in Kampung Sebayor to go to school. This is because the Samarahan area has many secondary schools and public universities, so this will make it easier for them to go to school or universities later on.
