MIRI: Samling Group of Companies donated 4,000 food packs to the Miri Disaster Management Committee to be distributed to needy groups in the Tudan resettlement area.

Yesterday’s contributions also included medical supplies for the Red Crescent Miri Chapter, various front-liners, Miri Polyclinic and other clinics in Miri and the upper Baram areas.

According to Samling Group CEO Lawrence Chia, some of the consignments for Baram and Miri will arrive soon and arrangements will be made immediately for their distribution upon arrival.

“In supporting our government’s effort in tackling Covid-19, Samling is helping to mobilise not only medical supplies to the frontliners but also food packages to the needy. This is part of Samling’s initiatives to supplement the Sarawak government’s efforts in combating Covid-19,” Chia disclosed.

Samling is also making arrangements to send medical supplies to Kapit, Limbang and Lawas hospitals as well as to polyclinics and rural clinics in the respective areas.

Baram MP Anyi Ngau thanked Samling for its help, adding that the gesture would help maintain Baram District as a green zone.

“Samling has set a very good example. We would like to appeal to other corporations and organisations to work together with the government to extend assistance of any kind,” he said.
