KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat presented health equipment to Kapit Hospital on behalf of Syarikat Samling Resources on Friday.

A simple handing over ceremony was held at the hospital’s car park. On hand to receive the health equipment on behalf of Kapit Hospital was its director Dr Ivan Vun.

The items included surgical masks, hand sanitisers and laser thermometers. They will be distributed to all health centres and rural health clinics in the division.

Among those present at the ceremony were deputy Kapit Resident Galong Luang, Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut, Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga, District Council secretary Jabang Juntan, director Kapit Health Clinic Dr Farhani Samat and  Health officers Dr Valerie Kimberly  Paterson and Dr Simon  Channing.

Jamit thanked Syarikat Samling Resources for their generosity in donating the health equipment pointing out that Kapit Hospital and health care units in the district would benefit from the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) project.

He noted that the company had earlier donated 50,000 masks to the Kapit Division Disaster Management – Covid 19 Committee for distribution to all frontliners in the division.

“Today, it donated another 60,400 pieces of face masks especially for our health care services. This is a great moral booster to the frontliners who have been working dedicatedly to protect the people against the contagious disease,” said Jamit.

He also thanked all the frontliners who were working tirelessly to prevent the spread of the virus into Kapit.
