KUCHING: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has collected specimens following the discovery of dead pigeons along the Kuching Waterfront.
In a statement, it said samples collected will be sent for analysis to laboratories.
“All collected samples are domesticated pigeons which are not listed as protected species under Wildlife Protection Ordinance 1998.
“SFC promptly responded to the situation and is currently investigating the cause of this unfortunate event on-site,” it said.
Earlier, it was reported that at least 30 pigeons were found dead at the Kuching Waterfront on Wednesday (August 2).
According to a news report, checks in the surrounding area found that the carcasses were mostly on the grassy area next to the pavement.
