Sar-Alam Indah sponsors RM20,000 to support Padawan Raft Safari

KUCHING: Sar-Alam Indah Sdn Bhd, a leading wastewater management company, has sponsored RM20,000 in support of the Padawan Raft Safari 2023.

“Sar-Alam Sdn Bhd has been playing a key role in managing and treating human waste from households, ensuring the safe treatment of wastewater effluent. 

“Their efforts contribute to the restoration of the water cycle by returning clean water to the rivers,” according to a press statement issued on Friday (Oct 6) by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).

In conjunction with the 14th edition of Padawan Raft Safari, which will be held on Oct 22, MPP is inviting the public to watch this prestigious event.

“The Padawan Raft Safari is set to captivate both local and international adventure enthusiasts, promising an unforgettable immersion in nature and its pristine waters. 

“The exhilarating journey will commence from Kampung Annah Rais and finish at Kampung Git. 

“This event is the perfect platform to showcase and raise awareness on the importance of our rivers as the main source of our drinking water and is essential for our industries such as agriculture, ecotourism, manufacturing and hydropower generation to thrive,” said the statement.

The annual Padawan Raft Safari and other forms of water activities are a great tourist attraction to Padawan Municipality, especially those areas along Sungai Sarawak Kiri. 

Hence, MPP and other government agencies like the Natural Resources and Environment Board, Health Department, Sarawak Rivers Board and Department of Irrigation and Drainage have regular engagements with the villagers along the rivers to promote awareness on the important of keeping the river clean from various form of pollution as well as to preserve the cleanliness and safeguarding against pollution and creating sustainable world for the next generation.

Among those present at the ceremony were MPP chairman Tan Kai, Padawan Raft Safari organising chairperson Roselin Lasek, MPP deputy municipal secretary (management and community development) Henry Jalin Watt, Sar-Alam management director Bernard Yong and Sar-Alam management senior project coordinator Gloria Chai.
