MIRI: Search and rescue operations are continuing for a man who reportedly jumped off Lutong Bridge on Sunday.

Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the SAR comprising personnel from Lutong Fire and Rescue Department, police and Civil Defence Force was mounted soon after police received a report on the incident at 3pm Sunday.

He said the report was lodged by a member of the public who claimed to have seen the man jumping off the bridge around 2.10pm.

“According to the report, the complainant said the man was initially sitting on the edge of the bridge before he suddenly jumped off,” Naga said.

However, as of noon yesterday, the victim has yet to be found and the search and rescue operation is ongoing.

Police and Bomba personnel are combing the river to locate the man’s whereabouts.
