MIRI: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been launched to locate a 40-year-old man from Kampung Long Laput, identified as Michael Asun Atang, who went missing after a hunting trip in the jungle.

Michael was reported missing by his family on Sept 29 after he failed to return home from the hunting trip with two friends. While his two friends made it back safely, Michael has not been seen since.

According to his family, they, along with several villagers, immediately organised a search party to comb the jungle.

The only clue they uncovered was Michael’s clothes hanging on an oil palm tree.

The family saidat the location where he went hunting is approximately one hour and 30 minutes away from their longhouse.

Following the report, the Marudi Fire and Rescue Department initiated a formal search and rescue mission on the morning of Sept 30, deploying a team to search an area within an 8-km  radius from the spot where Michael was last seen with his companions.
