BINTULU: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for victims of a boat which was found in an overturned position in the waters of Bintulu last Thursday has been stopped.
Sarawak Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) in a statement said the operation was stopped at 9.30 am today as no missing cases had been reported.
“The diving team could not be despatched to the scene due to the strong current in the area that reaches a depth of 30-metre,” it said.
The SAR operation was activated at 10.15 am last Thursday after an unnumbered orange fibre boat was sighted about 40 nautical miles from Bintulu at 9.35 am the same day. – Bernama
