SRI AMAN: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been activated to locate a man who went missing in Sungai Tatai, Lachau.
The man has been identified as Reggie Jumbu, 56, from Rh Pilang Empili, Pantu.
A spokesman from the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that they were alerted at 1.06pm by the Lachau police station requesting assistance in search of a local man who was reported missing.
The complainant (a sibling to the missing man) lodged a report out of concern for the elder brother’s well-being who had failed to return home since Thursday after he set out to fish.
Currently, the search operation covers a 2km radius on land from the location where the victim was said to be last seen. The authorities are also assisted by the locals.
As of press time, there is still no trace of the victim.
