BELAGA: The search and rescue (SAR) operation to locate one Balan Lebung who had gone missing for over a week from Rumah Uma Kulit, Long Mitik, will be temporarily postponed.

A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the decision to put the operation on hold, was due to the alleged sighting of the 49-year-old disabled victim in Bintulu on yesterday (July 5).

“At 10.50am, rescuers were informed by the village chief that he had received a phone call from a witness claiming to have spotted the victim around Farley Medan Court in Bintulu on Tuesday.

“However, the witness did not manage to take a photo of the victim,” the spokesperson said.

With the information, the team passed it onto Sergeant Saprie Azman for further action by the police.

As a result of discussions with the victim’s family, the SAR operation will be temporarily suspended until new clues are found.

On Monday (July 4), the victim’s father lodged a missing person’s report after his son left the house last Wednesday (June 29) and had yet to return home.
