SERIAN: An elderly man has been reported missing after failing to return home from his farm at Kampung Rayang since Tuesday (Dec 17).
The victim, identified as Mark Rumbu, 57, is a disabled person with hearing difficulties. He left his home for the farm at 2.30 pm on Tuesday.
A preliminary search was carried out in the surrounding areas of the village but yielded no results.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Serian station were dispatched to the scene, about 12km away, after receiving a distress call at 1.17 pm yesterday (Dec 19).
Upon arrival, the team initiated a search and rescue (SAR) operation to search for Mark within a 2km radius.
Also involved in the search are the police, Civil Defence Force (APM), and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).
At the time of writing, Mark remains unaccounted for.
