SAR ops underway in Sri Aman to locate missing duo

SRI AMAN: An elderly man with a history of heart attack and a young man with a history of seizures, were reported missing in separate incidents, Thursday (Nov 21).

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received emergency calls at 7am and 7.34am, regarding the two cases.

The individuals have been identified as 23-year-old Jackson Bar Runi and 75-year-old Niang Lasa.

In the first case, firefighters from the Sri Aman station were dispatched to the scene at Rh Sekot Sebangkoi Undop, about 12km away from the station.

On Tuesday (Nov 19), Jackson had left his home at around 10am without informing his family, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt.

Jackson is reported be suffering from seizures, and his family filed a missing person’s report for further search assistance.

At the time of writing, the search and rescue (SAR) operation is underway with a 3km search radius.

Meanwhile, in the second case involving Niang, another team of firefighters from the Sri Aman station were dispatched to the scene at Rh Ringgit Ibol, about 17km away from the station.

On Wednesday (Nov 20), Niang left his home at around 11am to go to his farm at Sungai Raya Ibol. He was last seen shirtless, wearing long pants and carrying a machete.

It was reported that Niang has a history of heart attacks. Fearing for his safety, his family reported the incident to the authorities for further action.

As of 2pm, the SAR operation is still underway with a 5km search radius.

Both operations involved the participation of the police, Civil Defence Force (APM) and local residents.
