THE Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development aims to increase the number of students eligible for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) enrolment at 60 per cent by 2030 through the Sarawak Education Enhancement Programme (SEEP).
Its Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said SEEP was introduced to improve Sarawak’s overall SPM performance over the next three to five years.
“This programme represents a considerable investment of RM15 million, targeting low performing students in Form 3, Form 4, and Form 5,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech today.
In terms of results, he said Sarawak expects to see a notable improvement in the students’ SPM academic performance.
“The target is to bring Sarawak’s State Average Grade (GPN) on par with the national average,” he said.
He added SEEP is more than just an academic programme, but an investment for the future of Sarawak.
“We thank Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari for the significant allocation for this programme,” said Sagah.
