SARAWAK Budget 2025 has earmarked RM5 million to initiate preliminary works for a state-of-the-art cancer centre, aimed at addressing the growing need for specialised cancer care in the state
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Sarawak Cancer Centre will ultimately receive a total allocation of RM1 billion to offer comprehensive cancer treatment services, including stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy.
In addition to treatment, the facility will advance cancer research and training, focusing on developing innovative therapies and training healthcare professionals.
The Sarawak government will initially fund the project, with reimbursement planned from the federal government at a later stage.
“Our suite of public investments in ensuring the wellbeing of Sarawakians, testifies to our steadfast commitment to address the needs of the rakyat through every stage of their
life, from cradle to grave,” he said.
He said this when tabling the Sarawak Budget ’25 during the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today
